Teleise Scanlan, MFT-I

Born and raised on Hawaiʻi Island, Teleise attended Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi and earned her undergraduate degrees from Hawaiʻi Community College (AA in Liberal Arts) and Brigham Young University–Hawaiʻi (BS in Psychology). She later earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University.

As a Native Hawaiian-Samoan wife and mother of five boys, she brings both lived experience and clinical training, with a strong commitment to individuals, couples, and families within the Pasefika community. Her focus is restoring rhythm to relationships—helping couples understand their patterns, improve communication, and rebuild trust in ways that feel grounded and sustainable. She uses a relational, strengths-based approach and continues to deepen her training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

Her approach is rooted in identity, ʻohana, and the systems that built us. A core part of her practice is reindigenizing ʻohana—supporting families as they return to ways of relating that feel aligned and pono.

Outside of her clinical work, Teleise also creates culturally grounded tools through Ulu & Coconuts, including a reflection deck designed to strengthen connection to self and kūpuna. These offerings are part of her independent work and are not services of Elemental Guidance.

Teleise believes therapy should feel like a space where clients can be seen without shame, heard without judgment, and challenged with care. She works alongside clients to create slow, meaningful shifts that lead to long-term transformation.
